Good Afternoon! You are visitor # 119 since March 1, 2010!
I was born in
Huntington, WV.
The youngest son of Kennie Harris and Lillie Carpenter.
I'm also the youngest of their
13 children.
Actually there were 17 children, 9 girls and 8 boys,4 of the boys died at birth.
Now I'm the only surviving son and I have 5 sisters still living.
When I was 19 and serving with the Military in Vietnam, I was diagnosed with an incurable eye disease called
Retinitis pigmentosa
By the time I had reached the age of 29, I had to stop driving and retire from the Post Office.
Now let me tell you about Dena. She is the daughter of Clarence Stump Jr. and Edna Roseann Shepard. She is the oldest of 5 children.
Her Mother and 3 sisters, live within 5 miles of us and one brother who has passed away.
She worked for the telephone company and retired in 2000. Dena and I have been married for over 40 years and she still doesn't have me trained very well.
I served in the United States Army from September 1967 to September 1970.
I went through basic training and AIT at
Fort Knox, KY.
I served inVietnam for a year and a half, from July 1968 to Feb. 1970 then I returned to the states and served for 7 months at
Fort Campbell, Ky
where I ended my tour of duty.
